Estoy Aqui

I'm here still struggling along still feeling under the weather. Lots going on personally, but not much else happening. I took the day home just to chill and recharge the mind. In the meanwhile, I figure, I'll fiddle with my limited techonology skills and spruce up my blog but it ein happening. I'll continue to try.

The photo was taken earlier this month when I was in Orlando for a wedding/mini H.S reunion. I'm stashed away in the photo somewhere. Can't see too good, oh that was the intent. One of these days, I'll come correct and show the real me.

So what's happening? Let me see.... Life here in arepaland es el mismo caca diferente dia. Local elections are around the corner and all the political parties (too many to count) are all about spewing their political pogaganda. so far no marches --shucks... that is where the excitment was. But there is still time and the government supporters (aka Chavistas) know how to organize a mega march in 24hrs or less. I must say the oppositiion supporters aka esqualdors have a lot of fighting to do to gan anykind of recognition after their dismal showing in the last couple of elections. pero, vamos a ver!! We shall see.

What else... Oh still no word yet as to when we will get our discharge papers as we are calling them. We keep hoping that the parole officers will call, but call nuh come yet, so we continue to be on our good behavior and hope our number will be called. The hubby getting restless and I already got hot feet and mine burning up. Time to move on. Hubby saying if nuh discharge papers doan come in de next month or so, we causing ah uprising in de prisions (caracas), I tell hubby dat he got a whole lotta long talk, cause ah uprising gonna onlee sentence we tuh additional time, dat I woman not ready tuh serve.

¿que mas? This is Crop Ova weekend in Barbados and for the 2nd time in as many yrs, I missing all the activities. Come to think of it, it's been 2yrs since I been on the Rock. That not usual fuh me. usually I am there yearly and widin times, 2x's a year. But a series ah events and demands from de pickeney inna north kept us heading that way and hence a trip down tuh Bimshire skipped our plans. Plus we wanted to do some inland venezulea travel which we did.

So I gotta settle wid listening to VOB online (dat always damned cutting out) tuh catch the latest in tunes and news. But I sure missing the vibes right there and then. just imagine de weekend. starting tomorrow night wid the Pic-O-de-crop finals. 7 of Barbados premier calypso singers going up agains last year winner Kid Site singing pure calypso in it's true form. Well de hubby and I decide to decline a invitation to a classical concert tomorrow night so that we can tune in online. Then Saturday comes and it's Bridgetown Market down Spring Garden Hwy...Carftsmen/women showing off the best of their products and good Bajan food. The Market continues on Sunday, then Sunday evening there is Chobbolophot at the national stadium. A music extravaganza along with the king and Queen of Crop Over contest. right after chobbolopot sometime way after midnight, head down town and jump j'ovuert all de way down to spring garden, is pure music dat, and we ein even get tuh Kadooment yet.

Now is Monday and Grand Kadooment. pure bacchanal in Barbados, starting at the national Stadium 9.00 am (so dem say) playin mas', all de way to Spring Garden. The streets come alive and awashed in colors, shapes, textures, revellery in every form, young and old, black and white, rich and poor, locals and visitors all alike come together to celebrate Crop Over in Barbados, more dan a fete, sweet fuh days. ok, so we ein as big as TnT carnival, or carnival in Rio, although ah would bet tuh say we might be giving Brazil ah run fuh dem revellers. But we holding we own in de carribean and internationally as carival is concerned.

Crop-Ova is a musical spectacular- a community affair, everybodies jumps fuh cropover, from the PM and various ministers at he helms of the country to the local church minister. Oh yes we have a religious Band Walk Holy--the first to leave the stadium and chip down to Spring Garden passing out leaflets and prayers all the while to some wicked christian reggae and calypso. Next out of the reigns is the Blue Box Cart Band ah traditionally white visitors band. This is de band where the white tourist can do their thing, come tuh Barbados, drink, wukkup, getton bad and say dem enjoy Crop ova. there were the first ones outta de stadium, get down to Spring Garden early take a dip in de sea, something to eat, relax and then head back to their cushy hotel rooms before the real revellers get down there. No mixing with the locals, but still enjoyed Crop Over.

After those two bands are down then the roads are open for any and everything and believe us, it's any and everything winding it's way down through Station hill, no prisioners to wave at this year. down Egale Hall. cross Bank Hall, down Black Rock and finally ending up on Spring Garden. (ok, so ah might not got de route in correct order) but who cares when yuh chipping and wukking up tired, thirsty, feet hurting, waist hurting, hungry, stink, funky many drunk all tuh de best socca music there is on de island. Bands like Power By 4, Cable & Wirless, Baje International, Renegades, and many more vieing for best costume, best big/small band, best flag girl and in most cases, best flag shim and most of all best road march song.
Nathalee migh mek adouble this year. See she hey winning at de East Coast last Sunday wid she shong Colours. So bare bachannal happening in Barbados this weekend and I stuck hey in arepaland. Life just nuh fair.

So, peoples enjoy yuhselves. Thanks for all de comments and when I get more techonology competent, I gonna fix up de blog nicer. cause I tiyad ah look pun it muhself.
