el dia de lunes

It seems like Monday comes faster than anyone can think of. But it's the sign of the times and we roll with the punches and the days. It also seems like the blog possee are posting fewer and far between, call it life catching up to us, but it sure is different than the days of gone, when most everyone posted almost daily. Another sign of the times.

So how was the weekend? I must say, that for the first time in a long time I had a pretty nice weekend. Friday was chill night with the hubby as usual. Sat, was the usual chores and middling about. Sat night we had una boda (wedding) to attend. What a lovely wedding it was. One of our Hatian bretherin married a local latino. Well let me tell you, the brother pulled out all the stops. We were quite impressed. The young lady was elegant and regal with a simple strapless dress adorned with a small cascade of roses on the side. The brother was stepping to the nines in his white satin tie on white shirt. Two beautiful flower girls, one moreno the other negreta dress in blue just stole the show. The activities took place in one of our 5 star hotels here. They were married by the poolside with a reception following in one of the salons.

Elegance and class was at it's best every step of the way. A Saxaphonist (resembling Kenny G) serenaded us as we waited for the bridal party, and also accompanied the bride the short walk down the isle. After the simple ceremony we were escorted into the hotel, where upon arriving at the salon, two photographers stopped each person/couple and took their photo. Inside the salon, the tables were absolutely beautiful in white on white. The finest champagne and Scotch greetedg every table. Then there was a live band performing smoothing dinner tunes that just took us back in time.

In no time dinner was served and what a spread it was a spread fit for a king. Food as far as the eye can see, dinner was a buffet and nothing was missing. Every type of meat/fish necessary, salads, cheeses, frutis and the list continues. The dessert table had about 40 different types of cakes and pastries and everything was so elegantly arranged. We were left speechless as we ate to our hearts content and our bellies busted. After dinner, it was another band for the salsa and menrenge dancing and then another live band for the reggae and calypso. We danced until the wee hrs of the morning. Talk about a classy affair. That indeed it was.

So after waking up with a hangover on Sunday and stumbling into church half sleep with a headache, I spent the rest of the day sleeping it all off and realizing that I'm not as young as I used to be anymore and the body ached all over. Then it was up to see the Steelers win Super Bowl XL. Great game. So now, I'm here to start the week and continue my with my great excape. 94 days and counting.
