No puede ser
Yuh just don't know what people will say or do. and the hubby and I was agast yesterday when we were informed of something that someone said, which made us respond with no puede ser- it just can't be.
Now hubby and I are in the midst of moving house. I was going to write about this but from a different perspective, which I might still do. Anyhow, our lease is up and we've decided not to renew. Now for those who have been tolerating my ramblings for a while, you know that we experience serious filtration issues with the apt. We occupy two floors of space and when it rains, it does so both outside and inside our place. That was sufficent enough to endure for 2yrs so we decide it's time to go. Added to that we had a conversation con sus duenos earlier in the year, Jul to be exact. He wanted to know what are intentions were for the future. We told him that since our contract here is due to end in August and sometime soon after we will probably be returning to our homeland or elsewhere inna foreign. As you know I refer to that transition as getting our parole papers, which BTW hasn't been granted as yet. OK, well no sooner than we told him so, he asked can he consider to show the Apt to potential alquilers (renters) We said no problem. 1st mistake we made. By the end of the same week and up till present day, we have been having people of all walks come to view the Apt, sometimes 2-3 a day for 2 days or more a week. At one point we got so tired of the constant interruptions that when we would get the call, we'll say no, it's not possible today.
OK, the Apt is nice...see the view from our living room above. It has lots of nice features, but it's riddled with filtration (leaking) problems. Problems that as the Bajans would say give yuh bare goadies (lots of heartaches and fustrations) It ein easy entertaining people of some stature and then the rain start to fall, and next yuh know, you got all kinds ah buckets and rags and thing catching water. chupse.. Anyhow, the apt is on the market, for twice our current rate I may add.
Now when people come to see the Apt, some apparent signs of the filtration is quite prominent, so naturally the people ask questions. So when they ask these questions, what me and the hubby suppose tuh say...Oh noo...things cool man, nuh filtration, dem just some minor damages in de wall????? No, we say yes, we have some issues with filtration but that you will have to take up with the owners.
So this one set a people from another internation company like ours come tuh check the apt out. Apparently them like de place and was ready tuh sign, dem come like 3 times. So on the 3rd visit, them bought wid dem some engineers to check things thru. The engineers ask me one-two questions bout de filtration and I said what I had to say, I done wid dat, I leff that for them to work out wid de landlord. OK.
Now yesterday, another couple from another international company come and checking out de place, apparently this is their second walk thru. First question outta el señor mouth is, what kinda problems do I have with the apt. I informed el señor that there is a serious problem with filtration. he asked me, bout when in rain season. I tell de man again that during the rain season here, it rains almost daily and the rains are fuerte (strong). so I left he tuh make he own decision regarding tuh whether he want to rent or not, but the look on my face was clearly telling he tuh move on tuh somewhere else.
Yesterday evening we had a conference with los duenos and discussed our smooth transistion outta cell block Ana T. All went well and no problem or so we thought. Lo n' behold we were informed by the security as we were returning from outside that los duenos are looking for us. We were lucky to encounter him in the lobby where he proceeded to inform us that the people from these two international companies in particular cause many others came and looked at the place anyhow they informed him that they weren't going to rent the apt because (now get this) I told them not to rent the place because of problems with filtration. What??? bruggadown blax!!! Now neither the hubby or I don't know these people from Adam, and neither did we tell them not to rent de man place. We were simply was asked some questions and we responded accordingly. But can you imagine de look on our faces when the landlord tell we so. but wha de backside??? We gotta stand up dey and look like two foolish negretias fuh something that we ein kno nuttin bout. You cud imagine some people doing some mess like that. The man telling we how disappointed he is in we cause this Apt is he primary source of income not to mention dat both he and he spouse are doctors, he ah eye Dr. and she a G.P.....Wait Dr. D wunna profession doan mek much money??? and he ein want we tuh be spreading them kinda things bout the Apt yadda, yadda, yadda.....
So we had tuh kindly inform him dat we didn't do no such thing, we ein tell nobody nuttin so, cause it ein we place tuh tell people whether tuh rent or not. We know that we or nobodie from our company won't rent it and neither our affilate companies, but whoelse wanna come and go thru de hassles of living hey, well thats be dey business, not ours. But can yuh imagine??? Me and hubby decide that from today, anyone else that come to see the place in the remaining two weeks we have here, best not ask us any questions. Cause if they do, we pleading de 5th and sending dem tuh talk tuh de man in charge. Doan ask me bout no problems of filtration, cause I ein know. water cud be falling down buckets ah drop, I still ein know nuttin bout filtration problems. But tell muh something, if we did indeed tell de people not tuh rent Which, I repeat we did not do. You think them had any right telling de fella, we tell dem not tuh rent. If we did tell dem so, won't it be in their best interest tuh move on and give some other reason for why they decide not to choose de place???? People ein easy yuh kno.
Well I had some encounters with the landlord again today, and he din seem hostile or nuttin so, so I just hoping that within de two weeks that we have left, that he doan turn into no Jeckel and Hyde and we transition outta here sin problemas. entonces---can you believe such madness in some people?????? Well the packing of boxes continues and you won't believe the things you can accumulate in a short space of time..but that's another topic for another blog.

Cho, a nuh nuttin. You should tell the man that oonoo was ashamed of him in that he didn't fix the roof while you were in it, and that he was lucky that you never took him to court to get back part of your rent money, because homes are supposed to provide shelter from the elements, not exposure to them.
Yeh girl, you leaving anyway so doan mind he
you were doing the right thing by telling people about the filtration problems.
Landlord struggles are age old...
I am sure that you would have answered the prospective tennants' questionos diplomatically.
Is the landlord fault for making people look at the place while oonu in there.
Then he coulda lie to the people himself and dont cuss oonu. Outaordder.
landlord is a johnny, nuh bother with him. and them people that aint renting the place all they had ta say is that the m find something else
