holá ¿tu sabes que....?

My peoples, I've been a bit busy over the last few days, hence no blog. Lots going on that I want to write about but just havn't had the time, so until I get myself together for a decent blog just read and be amused.

Do you know that in Venezuela and Caracas.....

---- women are not allowed to put toilet paper, regardless of what's on it into the toilet
They are signs on the stall doors that tell you not to deposit any kind of paper
into the poceta... Just imagine!!!

---- only men are waiters and servers in resturants.....

---- you cannot trade in any kind of foreign currency - not even $$$ U.S.
you can't go to the bank and exchange Bolivars for Dollars, Euros, pounds
nothing......

---- If you go to the bank and deposit a check, you cannot then ask the teller for
money back, you must coonduct a total seperate transaction or you have to leave the line and go to the ATM machine.....

---- visitors cannot use international credit cards in the stores...only in some hotels....
so either you have bolivars, or you don't buy

----when you buy a car, it already has the registration on it. No personalized tags here.

---- there is no law as to how many people can ride on a motorbike - I've seen
as much as a whole family of 5 riding on a motor bike mother, father, baby
and sibilings and this is on the Hwy sin helmets.....

---- catholicism is the major religion here, but yet, majority of the women walk
around half naked.....

----each time a Venezulean passes a church, they make the sign of the cross, whether they
are religious or not.

-----marriages occur no earlier than 7:00PM at night, but that just the formality of the church
thing - the actual wedding would have taken place as much as a year ago.

----Baby christening and childrens parties are major occurances, events so big that they are live bands, waiters and the works

---- fireworks are illegal, but you won't know that during the christmas season or any
celebration, where it's customary to set off fireworks, especially at weddings.

Just some things to ponder upon. More to come as I notice them.

Wow some rather interesting rules and cultural practices.

Totally unrelated - my mom found out that I was due early when she was visiting Venzuela, but was able to fly back to Jamaica in time to give birth to me. So I was pretty close to taking in Venezuelan air with my first breathe.

The women walk around half naked? Way cool!!!

"Whats so big about that?", you say? "Women are doing that all over the western hemisphere!"?

True, but Venezuela has an impeccable record in all the major beauty pageants in the world! Maybe there are tons of beautiful half naked ladies walking around over there... Where do I join, Camp?

Hmm, funny and interesting. Some sounds familiar, when my grandfather was alive and used to visit, he used to tell us about the funny things in Caracas. Sounds like things have stayed the same. Nice. ;-)
